{"id":19438,"date":"2024-03-28T12:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T12:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/28\/kenya-power-introduces-power-backup-plan-to-curb-outages\/"},"modified":"2024-03-28T12:03:08","modified_gmt":"2024-03-28T12:03:08","slug":"kenya-power-introduces-power-backup-plan-to-curb-outages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/kenya-power-introduces-power-backup-plan-to-curb-outages\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Power introduces power backup plan to curb outages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 28 \u2013 Kenya Power has unveiled a power backup plan that will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the country in case of a blackout.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Control Centre, domiciled at the coast, will provide an alternative power dispatch point in the event of the main National Control Center\u2019s failure.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, it will serve as a training arena to boost power system operators\u2019 capacity and technical skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur grid is expanding rapidly with increased customer numbers and this calls for the deployment of strategic initiatives that are meant to secure and strengthen the quality of power supply,\u201d the company\u2019s Managing Director, Joseph Siror, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe backup national control center is one such initiative that we have undertaken,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Siror, the utility firm is eager to fortify the network by renovating the current infrastructure and building new lines to give its consumers alternate supply points and reduce power interruptions.<\/p>\n<p>The backup facility has been set up for Sh50 million and financed by a grant from GIZ under the Power System Readiness for Integration of Variable Renewable Energies (VRE) project that is being implemented in conjunction with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 28 \u2013 Kenya Power has unveiled a power backup plan that will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the country in case of a blackout.
