{"id":20996,"date":"2024-04-01T07:03:34","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T07:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/04\/01\/wetangula-calls-on-parliament-to-help-resolve-health-sector-crisis\/"},"modified":"2024-04-01T07:03:34","modified_gmt":"2024-04-01T07:03:34","slug":"wetangula-calls-on-parliament-to-help-resolve-health-sector-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/wetangula-calls-on-parliament-to-help-resolve-health-sector-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetangula calls on Parliament to help resolve health sector crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-paragraph-padding-1\">\n<p><strong>Speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetangula has called on Parliament to step in and advice on how to end the conflict in the health sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking when he attended a thanksgiving ceremony for Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera in Kakamega County, Wetangula said that the issues affecting the health sector cannot be resolved by the Ministry of Health alone.<\/p>\n<p>Leader of Minority in National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi urged the government to find a workable solution to the impasse.<\/p>\n<p>Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha noted that it will be a little difficult for all the blame to be lamped on her ministry considering that the Collective Bargaining Agreement was signed in 2017 before she joined government.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, leaders across the political divide are now calling on the government to resolve the impasse in the health sector.<\/p>\n<p>Former Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is urging the Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha to have a sit down with doctors and find a solution on the demands being made.<\/p>\n<p>Oparanya said that doctors make the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of the society and their demands should not be wished away, adding that Kenyans are suffering as a result of the strike by the medics.<\/p>\n<p>Health workers in Embu County employed on contract under the Universal Health Care Programme four years ago now want the county and national governments to reassure them of a renewal of their contracts once the current one expires in one month\u2019s time.<\/p>\n<p>The National Chair of the Kenya National Union of Nurses, Joseph Ngwasi, and the Embu Branch Chair of the Clinical Officers\u2019 Union Alloys Njoka while speaking at the Embu Level 5 hospital said the workers are key in service delivery and the realization of UHC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/wetangula-calls-on-parliament-to-help-resolve-health-sector-crisis\/\">Wetangula calls on Parliament to help resolve health sector crisis<\/a> first appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/\">KBC<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetangula has called on Parliament to step in and advice on how to end the conflict in the health sector.
