{"id":22562,"date":"2024-04-04T22:03:02","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T22:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/04\/04\/paul-mccartney-praises-beyonces-cover-of-blackbird\/"},"modified":"2024-04-04T22:03:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T22:03:02","slug":"paul-mccartney-praises-beyonces-cover-of-blackbird","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/paul-mccartney-praises-beyonces-cover-of-blackbird\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul McCartney praises Beyonce\u2019s cover of \u201cBlackbird\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Former Beatles man and original writer of the song \u201cBlackbird\u201d, Paul McCartney, is delighted with Beyonce\u2019s version of the song, written \u201cBlackbiird\u201d that appears on a recent album <\/span><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Taking to social media to share his praise for it, he wrote: \u201cI think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The song was originally written by McCartney amid the 1960s civil rights movement in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It was written and inspired by the first black girls famously called the Little Rock Nine, who were the first to attend all-white schools after desegregation in Arkansas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhen I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black (sic) girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can\u2019t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now,\u201d McCartney continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnything my song and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This comes as the new album continues to break records for Beyonce, decades into her career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ahead of the release, Beyonce had cited the mistreatment she got at the Country Awards popularly known as the CMAs as the inspiration to create it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed\u2026and it was very clear that I wasn\u2019t,\u201d she said at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She further added that she used the experience to learn more about the history of Country music as it pertains to black culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBut, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For the song \u201cBlackbiird\u201d she features up-and-coming black country artists Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer and Reyna Roberts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>McCartney also said that he had spoken to Beyonc\u00e9 on FaceTime and she thanked him for writing \u201cBlackbird\u201d and for letting her cover it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI told her the pleasure was all mine,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI thought she had done a killer version of the song.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/paul-mccartney-praises-beyonces-cover-of-blackbird\/\">Paul McCartney praises Beyonce\u2019s cover of \u201cBlackbird\u201d<\/a> first appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbc.co.ke\/\">KBC<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Beatles man and original writer of the song \u201cBlackbird\u201d, Paul McCartney, is delighted with Beyonce\u2019s version of the song, written \u201cBlackbiird\u201d that appears on a recent album Cowboy Carter.
