{"id":24127,"date":"2024-04-08T14:03:20","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T14:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/04\/08\/eacc-raises-concern-over-suitability-of-us-ambassadorial-nominee\/"},"modified":"2024-04-08T14:03:20","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T14:03:20","slug":"eacc-raises-concern-over-suitability-of-us-ambassadorial-nominee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/eacc-raises-concern-over-suitability-of-us-ambassadorial-nominee\/","title":{"rendered":"EACC raises concern over suitability of US ambassadorial nominee"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-paragraph-padding-1\">\n<p><strong>The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) has raised concerns over the suitability of David Kiplagat Kerich for the Washington DC, USA Ambassadorial post.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The commission through a recommendation to the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations committee stated that there is an active investigation against Kiplagat.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Committee Chair and Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech allowed the Nominee to make his submissions.<\/p>\n<p>During his vetting, the lawmakers acknowledged the importance of the USA as a strategic partner through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which is Kenya\u2019s biggest export market.<\/p>\n<p>Kiplagat said he will leverage the trade agreement and increase export volumes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can sensitize our farmers and traders on AGOA as well as take advantage of the export processing zone to promote the apparel sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hon.
