Chaos erupted on Tuesday at Murang\u2019a County Assembly after two opposing sides of the County Assembly disagreed.<\/p>\n
According to the angry MCAs, two members of the county assembly are accused of colluding with the Assembly Clerk Wilson Kuria and Speaker Johnson Mukuha to deny the members their allowances.<\/p>\n
This came days after two members; Wambui Mwangi and Simon Wamwea were forcefully ejected from the chambers forcing them to get a court order to be allowed to access the assembly.<\/p>\n
Upon their arrival, a fight ensued destroying property of unknown value.<\/p>\n
During the melee, the MCAs hurled chairs and tables at each other.<\/p>\n
Ouster<\/strong><\/p>\n The two members were early this month ousted from the county assembly public service board.<\/p>\n The Assembly through a resolution revoked the appointment of MCA Simon Wamwea (Ngararia ward) and MCA Elizabeth Wambui (Kimorori\/Wempa ward) from the board after serious concerns were raised pertaining to their competency to serve on the board.<\/p>\n The motion for removal\u00a0of\u00a0Wamwea and Wambui\u00a0by impeachment was tabled by Muguru ward MCA Moses Muchiri after the MCAs accused the two members of acting out of personal interest and were deemed not fit to be part of the\u00a0board.<\/p>\n Muchiri said the county assembly resolved to remove\u00a0the two members from office\u00a0pursuant to Section 12(3) (c) of the County\u00a0Governments Act 2012 on the provisions, procedures and grounds which County Assembly Service Board members may be removed.<\/p>\n \u201cThis Assembly through the resolution revokes the appointment of MCA Simon Wamwea and MCA Elizabeth Wambui from Murang\u2019a County Assembly Service Board by way of impeachment,\u201d said Muchiri.<\/p>\n Muchiri said that\u00a0the MCAs wanted the removal of the two members by way of impeachment on grounds\u00a0of vote of no confidence\u00a0and misrepresentation.<\/p>\n \u201c29 out of 47 elected MCAs have already appended their signatures of the removal of\u00a0MCA Simon Wamwea and MCA Elizabeth Wambui\u00a0from office,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Other grounds that warranted the two members\u2019 removal from office were financial mismanagement and incompetence in their line of duty.<\/p>\n Additional reporting by KNA<\/strong><\/p>\n The post Chaos at Murang\u2019a County Assembly as MCAs clash<\/a> first appeared on KBC<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Chaos erupted on Tuesday at Murang\u2019a County Assembly after two opposing sides of the County Assembly disagreed.
