{"id":29145,"date":"2024-04-19T15:03:56","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T15:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/04\/19\/lsk-green-belt-movement-ask-sakaja-to-abandon-plans-to-build-club-in-uhuru-park-or-face-lawsuit\/"},"modified":"2024-04-19T15:03:56","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T15:03:56","slug":"lsk-green-belt-movement-ask-sakaja-to-abandon-plans-to-build-club-in-uhuru-park-or-face-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/lsk-green-belt-movement-ask-sakaja-to-abandon-plans-to-build-club-in-uhuru-park-or-face-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"LSK, Green Belt Movement ask Sakaja to abandon plans to build club in Uhuru Park or face lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI Kenya, Apr 19- The Law Society of Kenya and the Green Belt Movement demands that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja drops the plans to build a club at Uhuru Park by Friday 6.00 pm or face a legal action.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Friday, the Green Belt Movement and the Law Society of Kenya indicated that Uhuru Park\u2019s vast green space will be severely impacted if it is commercialized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe there by demand that you immediately withdraw the pronouncements and, in a letter, signed and sealed with the seal of County affirm that Uhuru Park and all open green spaces such as parks maintained by County shall not be commercialized,\u201d they said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Sakaja was ordered to submit a report within 48 hours. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy clients are willing to indulge the County not more than three days in respect to availing of documents,\u201d read the statement.<\/p>\n<p>This follows governor\u2019s statement on his ambitious plan to introduce social facilities including a nightclub on the newly revamped Uhuru Park grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Thursday during the official handover of Uhuru Park, Sakaja announced that Nairobi County Government would be installing a Sh156 million dancing fountain within the park, among other facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to issue tenders for the business facilities that are here.
