{"id":29504,"date":"2024-04-20T10:03:20","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T10:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/04\/20\/cdf-ogolla-to-be-buried-without-casket-family-says\/"},"modified":"2024-04-20T10:03:20","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T10:03:20","slug":"cdf-ogolla-to-be-buried-without-casket-family-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/cdf-ogolla-to-be-buried-without-casket-family-says\/","title":{"rendered":"CDF Ogolla to be buried without casket, family says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20-The late Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla who perished in a copter crash alongside nine others will be buried without a casket in fulfillment of his wishes, his family has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ogolla\u2019s family revealed Friday that the late military Chief had already chosen his burial site in Mor village, in his Siaya home.<\/p>\n<p>According to instructions documented in his will, Ogolla requested that his body be wrapped in sheets to alleviate any undue burden on his loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he stipulated that he wished to be buried within 72 hours of his passing.<\/p>\n<p>Ogolla will be buried on Sunday after which a memorial service to honor him will be held on April 26.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) confirmed that Ogolla will be laid to restin accordance with his wish to be buried within 72 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced on Friday that General Ogolla, along with nine other officers, will be interred following established military protocols.<\/p>\n<p>CS Duale indicated that the Military Honours ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang\u2019ata from 1 pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe honours will include a church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute,\u201d he said, disclosing that a post-mortem examination on Ogolla\u2019s body was conducted on Friday at 11 am at the Mashujaa Funeral Home at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>President William Ruto, alongside Deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, is set to attend the ceremony. <\/p>\n<p>The event will also be graced by senior government officials, parliamentary leaders, judiciary representatives, political figures, security sector commanders, and members of the Diplomatic Corps<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20-The late Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla who perished in a copter crash alongside nine others will be buried without a casket in fulfillment of his wishes, his family has said.
