The Council of Governors, the National Government, and key representatives of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) have called for a meeting on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The government and KMPDU are inching closer to closing ranks on issues raised in their now 40-day strike.<\/p>\n
This after intense 4 days of meetings that ran into the dead of the night as both sides drafted a return to work formula that necessitated wide consultations from representatives of both sides.<\/p>\n
Sunday saw a series of meetings that ended minutes to midnight, with the government and KMPDU agreeing to all but one issue \u2013 remuneration for interns \u2013 which is a matter before the courts.<\/p>\n
According to a meeting chaired by the Head of Public Service Felix Kosgey under the whole-of-nation approach constituted by the labour courts, the doctors\u2019 union is Monday morning expected to consult their full council on agreements made this far and get a go-ahead to sign a return to work formula in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Both sides have ceded ground on contentious issues that have seen their hardline stands all through the period.<\/p>\n
Key among the issues is the release of basic salary arrears of CBA 2017-2021 to be paid in 5 installments.<\/p>\n
