KCB Volleyball Club has vowed to reclaim the Africa women\u2019s Volleyball club championship\u00a0 which begins April 24th to May 5th in Cairo Egypt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

KCB finished fifth in last year\u2019s competiotion and they will be out to emulate their 2022 perfomance that saw them crowned as African champions.<\/p>\n

The team under the tutelage of head coach Japhet Munala is expected to leave for Cairo tomorrow and will await to know\u00a0 <\/span>their opponents in a draw set to be conducted later this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019This competition is going to be very tough and hosts Egypt will be fielding two teams and also Algeria.But we have what it takes to become number one\u2019\u2019, remarked Munala.<\/span><\/p>\n

The KCB squad boasts a blend of young and experienced players with its ranks and is boosted by the return of attacker Sharon Jepchumba.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019Her coming back during this championship is very good for us gives us strength and spirit to fight more we are going to build our play around her name so we are hopeful that she will give us what it takes to win this championship\u2019\u2019, Munala added\u00a0 <\/span>before stating that Chepchumba\u2019s overseas experience will be instrumental in their title charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019She has trained with us for almost two weeks now. she has adjusted very fast and we have combined very well ahead of the games\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

The squad will be captained by Edith Wisa and also consists\u00a0 <\/span>Belinda Barasa, and Elizabeth Mariana as middle\u00a0 <\/span>blockers, while Mercy Moim, Mariam Musa, Juliana Namutira, and Sharleen Maywa form\u00a0 <\/span>the\u00a0 <\/span>left attackers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019it\u2019s a bigger competition but we know that we are going to perform well. The return of Sharon Chepchumba is also good news we hope she will perform better\u2019\u2019, quipped Wisah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharon Chepchumba and debutant Deborah Jesang have been named in the opposite attacking position. Lincy Jeruto and Josephine Wafula will play as\u00a0 <\/span>liberos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Setters are\u00a0 <\/span>Esther Mutinda and Sheila Wabwile.KCB and Kenya Pipeline are set to represent the country in the continental championship that Kenyan clubs have won 14 times in 38 editions.<\/span><\/p>\n

KCB have won the title twice\u00a0 <\/span>while Kenya Pipeline is the most decorated club with 6 titles while Kenya Priosns has won the crown five times.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019Last season we had pressure because we were the defending champ[ions but this time we are going to gain what we lost last season\u2019\u2019,Munala quipped.<\/span><\/p>\n
