Authorities confirmed that the explosion happened Monday at 7.12 am. The targeted premise is frequented by non-locals and is also a recruitment base for casual labourers.<\/p>\n
The injured were rushed to the Elwak sub-county hospital.<\/p>\n
Equity Bank said it had suspended operations at its local branch following the explosion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe regret to inform you, that our Elwak Branch, Mandera County will remain closed today following an explosion in Elwak Town. We confirm that our branch and the staff in Elwak are safe. However, as the security agencies continue with investigations\u2026\u201d the bank said in a post on X.<\/p>\n
