In July 2023, the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi embarked on a historic state visit to Kenya, marking the first visit by an Iranian head of state to Africa in over a decade.<\/p>\n
President Raisi arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on July 12, 2023, where he was received by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua.<\/p>\n\n
He then proceeded to State House where he was received by his host President William Ruto and accorded an elaborate State reception ceremony that included a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute.<\/p>\n\n
The two leaders signed several MoUs and agreements in the areas of agriculture, livestock, culture and heritage, information, ICT, fisheries, housing, urban and metropolitan development.<\/p>\n\n
Iran President Ebrahim Raisi was confirmed dead this morning following a helicopter crash.<\/p>\n
Raisi was heading to the city of Tabriz, in the north-west of Iran, after returning from a dam opening ceremony on the Azerbaijan border<\/p>\n
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also killed in Sunday\u2019s crash, along with several others.<\/p>\n
