Ten suspects were on Monday charged with fraud in a Ksh1 billion land deal in Nairobi.<\/p>\n
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects conspired with intent to defraud Realty Brokers Limited a prime parcel of land by providing a false letter of allotment from the National Land Commission to facilitate the registration in the name of Mwadi Women Entrepreneurs Limited.<\/p>\n
The ten include a Registrar of Titles at the Ministry of Lands headquarters Ardhi House, Jacob Cartwright Owino, and a Land Administration officer, Andrew Aseri Kirungu, who were further charged with abuse of office.<\/p>\n
Others are\u00a0 Diana Njeri Muiyuro, James Mbote Gicheha, Joseph Njoroge Kimani, Joseph Gichohi Kinyanjui, Gladys Wambui Mwangi, Mohamed Jimale Abdille, Charles Mwangi Waithaka and George Ndungu Mumbi.<\/p>\n
The suspects were also charged with making a false document and obtaining registration by false pretences.<\/p>\n
Nine out of the ten suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges before Chief Magistrate Hon. Lucas Onyina and were released on Ksh100,000 cash bail.<\/p>\n
The tenth suspect Andrew Aseri Kirungu, failed to appear before the court citing illness.<\/p>\n
