Victory is certain,\u201d he said on Thursday night, affirming his commitment to <em>Siasa Safi<\/em>, Swahili for clean politics.<\/p>\n<p>Sakaja, up against a camp backed by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, voiced confidence even as his main competitor, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, cast doubt over preparations for the election.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/2024\/06\/gakuya-vows-to-lead-uda-defections-if-he-loses-nairobi-uda-chairperson-seat\/\">Gakuya vows to lead UDA defections if he loses Nairobi UDA Chairperson seat<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>Gakuya, the presumed candidate for Gachagua\u2019s camp, had vowed to lead defections from the ruling outfit if he lost the contest.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker later told Capital News he is \u201ccapable\u201d wrestling City Hall from Governor Sakaja.<\/p>\n<p>Seen as an underdog in the race for Nairobi UDA Chairpermanship over his inclination to a faction loyal to Gachagua, who is facing a revolt in UDA over \u201ctribal politics\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/2024\/06\/gakuya-says-capable-to-take-on-sakaja-days-after-thretening-uda-defection\/\">Gakuya said he will clinch the seat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker claimed he had solid support in twelve out of seventeen constituencies making up Nairobi\u2019s delegates and that President William Ruto, the Party Leader, was aware.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to pre-empt the feeling of the Head of State because am sure he is aware what\u2019s the position of Nairobi. We have captured 12 constituencies out of the 17.
