A man who attempted to rape a 22-year-old woman after offering her a ride is recuperating at a Kiambu hospital after a failed suicide attempt.<\/p>\n
The incident, reported at Kandara Police Station in Murang\u2019a on Wednesday, occurred when the woman accepted a ride home from Kaburigi Trading Centre.<\/p>\n
The motorist, initially appearing to be a Good Samaritan, soon revealed his true intentions, attempting to assault the young woman.<\/p>\n
The victim, however, managed to fend off the attack, unlocking the vehicle and escaping.<\/p>\n
She then reported the incident to the police, who identified the suspect as Peter Gitau Kimani.<\/p>\n
Upon learning that the police were closing in on him, Kimani attempted to take his own life by ingesting poison.<\/p>\n
However, authorities arrived at his house in time to transport him to Thika Level 5 Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Once discharged, Kimani will face charges in court.<\/p>\n
