{"id":7532,"date":"2024-03-01T08:03:50","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T08:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/03\/01\/busia-court-grants-prosecution-request-to-detain-county-security-officials-for-defrauding-german\/"},"modified":"2024-03-01T08:03:50","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T08:03:50","slug":"busia-court-grants-prosecution-request-to-detain-county-security-officials-for-defrauding-german","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/busia-court-grants-prosecution-request-to-detain-county-security-officials-for-defrauding-german\/","title":{"rendered":"Busia court grants prosecution request to detain county security officials for defrauding German"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 1 \u2013 The Busia High Court on Thursday granted the prosecution\u2019s application to detain the Busia Officer Commanding Station, his deputy, the petty crimes officer, and a businessman for 14 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The four individuals were apprehended and brought before the court on charges of defrauding a German of Sh2.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>In a miscellaneous application, the prosecution requested the court to hold Chief Inspector Wairia (OCS), Inspector of Police Kibelio (Deputy OCS), Corporal Douglas Rono (in-charge of petty crimes), and Paul Wanjala (businessman) in police custody for two weeks to allow investigating officers to complete their investigations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe matter had initially been presented before the Busia Chief Magistrate but was later moved to the High Court for directions after the trial court recused itself, citing a conflict of interest, as the respondents were officers of the court,\u201d stated the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Busia High Court Judge Justice W.
