Comedian Elsa Majimbo has recently stirred up a heated conversation by openly sharing her reasons for refusing to send money to her extended family.<\/p>\n
In a recent video shared on X, media personality Elsa Majimbo expressed strong feelings against what she perceives as expectations among many Africans.<\/p>\n
Majimbo recounted her childhood experiences, observing her father regularly sending money to his siblings, parents, and other extended family members.<\/p>\n
“Sending money back home or to your extended family is such a common African practice that I absolutely hate. I saw my dad doing it, and I don’t even know any of my extended family,” Majimbo said.<\/p>\n
The comedian explained that she finds it unfair for family members to rely on others for financial support instead of taking responsibility for their own lives.<\/p>\n
She emphasised that as soon as someone in the family has a job, there is often an expectation to share that income, a practice she refuses to engage in.<\/p>\n
Elsa shared a personal anecdote about a distant relative who had previously approached her father for money and later turned to her with the same request.<\/p>\n
She firmly refused, expressing her frustration with what she views as financial dependence that leads to entitlement.<\/p>\n
“There’s this one extended family member of ours who used to ask my dad for money, and she texted me and asked me for money. You’ve been asking my dad for money since before I was born. Now, you’re asking me for money. I’m not feeding your habits. You’re too lazy to be alive,” she said.<\/p>\n
