Here\u2019s your chance to compete and win"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div>Are you a graffiti artist interested in showcasing your virtuosity?<br \/>\nWell, Chrome, has announced a new opportunity for graffiti artists across the country to design the next iteration of its famous souped-up matatus (colloquially referred to as nganyas).\n<p>This call to action is part of the buildup to the launch of the brand&#8217;s <em>Honour The Streets<\/em> campaign, which aims to celebrate and elevate Kenya&#8217;s vibrant street culture.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>Part of the <em>Honour The Streets<\/em> campaign involves inviting local artists to submit their graffiti designs, along with their neighborhoods and personal stories, for a chance to see their work showcased on Chrome\u2019s iconic matatus.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Known for their striking visuals during market storms, these matatus are a symbol of a deep-rooted connection to urban Kenyan culture.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;As a brand, we are built around our recognition of the powerful stories that the Kenyan streets tell through art,&#8221; notes Lilian Mbugua, Brand Manager for Chrome.\n<p>&#8220;By involving local graffiti artists in our campaign, we are not just designing a vehicle; we are creating a canvas that honors the creativity and spirit of Kenyan communities,&#8221; she adds in a statement.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Submissions are open to all graffiti artists,18 years and above, who can demonstrate a strong connection to their local community through their art.<br \/>\nEntries will be judged based on artistic merit, narrative strength, and the artist&#8217;s link to their neighborhood.<br \/>\nThe selected design will be unveiled in a special event, marking a new chapter in Chrome\u2019s ongoing engagement with street culture.\n<\/div>\n<div>Artists interested in participating should submit their work via direct message to the Chrome Kenya Instagram page by 31st\u00a0August 2024.<br \/>\nThe winners will be announced on 10th September 2024<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a graffiti artist interested in showcasing your virtuosity?
