{"id":85472,"date":"2024-08-31T09:03:04","date_gmt":"2024-08-31T09:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/08\/31\/govt-to-clear-ksh-250m-new-kcc-pending-bills-in-one-month\/"},"modified":"2024-08-31T09:03:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-31T09:03:04","slug":"govt-to-clear-ksh-250m-new-kcc-pending-bills-in-one-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/govt-to-clear-ksh-250m-new-kcc-pending-bills-in-one-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t to clear Ksh 250M new KCC pending bills in one month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government has committed to clearing over Ksh 250 million in pending bills owed to farmers by New KCC within the next month.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a new payment scheme, farmers will receive half of their dues upon delivery, with the remaining balance settled within two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced after a meeting between the new management and board members of New KCC and the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives, Wycliffe Oparanya, at Lemaiyan Hotel in Naivasha.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting aimed to address the financial struggles of the milk company and chart a path to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the press after the retreat, CS Oparanya acknowledged that New KCC had been incurring losses annually, prompting government intervention.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed concern over the prolonged delays in payments to dairy farmers, noting that these issues would now be resolved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have met with the new board and management to discuss the company\u2019s challenges and outline the way forward,\u201d Oparanya said.<\/p>\n<p>He was optimistic that the milk processor would return to profitability within a year under the new leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have instructed the company to ensure that farmers receive half of their payment upon delivery, with the remaining balance cleared within two weeks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The CS also ordered a forensic audit of New KCC\u2019s accounts following years of financial losses, despite continued government support.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized the importance of regular meetings between management and farmers to address and resolve ongoing challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new management must implement a new financial model.
