{"id":85756,"date":"2024-09-01T07:03:10","date_gmt":"2024-09-01T07:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/09\/01\/climate-works-mtaani-initiative-to-begin-by-october-ruto\/"},"modified":"2024-09-01T07:03:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-01T07:03:10","slug":"climate-works-mtaani-initiative-to-begin-by-october-ruto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/climate-works-mtaani-initiative-to-begin-by-october-ruto\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Works Mtaani Initiative to begin by October: Ruto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KISUMU, Kenya, Sep 1 \u2014 The COVID-era Kazi Mtaani initiative designed to offer income opportunities to unemployed youth in informal settlemnets is scheduled to begin by October 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President William Ruto announced the program named Climate Works Mtaani initiative will kick off in a month\u2019s time when he spoke in Kisumu on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>While affirming the government\u2019s commitment to finding youths job opportunities, Ruto said the initiative will help in managing the country\u2019s environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust give me one month, the project is going to kick off and absorb our youths,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The President said preparatory efforts were at the tail end.<\/p>\n<p>While responding to the request by Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron to have the initiative re-launched, Ruto told the youth to get ready.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust get ready to plant trees so that we have a clean environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job creation initiatives <\/h2>\n<p>Addressing residents of Kondele, the President said his administration is creating jobs for young people on different fronts.<\/p>\n<p>In the housing sector, he said a number of jobs are available while asking young people with different skills to take advantage of the constriction of affordable housing at Lumumba estate in Kisumu.<\/p>\n<p>He said electricians, plumbers, accountants, architects, quantity surveyors amongst other fields should offer their expertise at the construction sites.<\/p>\n<p>President Ruto said the target is youths in the urban informal settlements with the overal objective of ensuring social protection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are creating jobs for young people in the digital platform, markets, manufacturing and export of labour,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Oron said the young people\u2019s population in Kisumu is growing and there is a need to find them a job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour Excellency, this is Kondele, the un-gazetted barracks, please enlist these young people in the forces,\u201d he said.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KISUMU, Kenya, Sep 1 \u2014 The COVID-era Kazi Mtaani initiative designed to offer income opportunities to unemployed youth in informal settlemnets is scheduled to begin by October 1.
