{"id":86710,"date":"2024-09-03T13:03:23","date_gmt":"2024-09-03T13:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/09\/03\/several-people-feared-dead-in-vehicle-collision-in-kericho\/"},"modified":"2024-09-03T13:03:23","modified_gmt":"2024-09-03T13:03:23","slug":"several-people-feared-dead-in-vehicle-collision-in-kericho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/several-people-feared-dead-in-vehicle-collision-in-kericho\/","title":{"rendered":"Several people feared dead in vehicle collision in Kericho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 3\u2014Several people are feared dead following a collision between a personal vehicle and a matatu at Kericho\u2019s Kipsitet area.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Police say that the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the driver of a Mercedes Benz lost control of the vehicle at the Kisumu Ndogo area and collided with the public service vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the matatu died on the spot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of the impact, several passengers are feared dead,\u201d a police report obtained by Capital News stated.<\/p>\n<p>First responders are currently combing through the wreckage to determine if there are additional victims trapped inside.<\/p>\n<p>This incident follows a tragic crash just two days earlier, in which twelve people lost their lives in Tharaka Nithi County.<\/p>\n<p>The accident involved a van and a pickup truck at Nithi Bridge on the Chuka-Meru Road.<\/p>\n<p>The crash, which occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, resulted in the deaths of all passengers in the van. The victims included eight adult females, two adult males, and two teenagers.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by lane encroachment by the van driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accident occurred when the driver of the motor vehicle failed to keep to his proper lane, leading to a head-on collision with the Toyota pickup,\u201d a police report said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the pickup truck sustained a fracture to his right leg, while another passenger suffered head injuries and was referred to Chuka Referral Hospital for treatment.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 3\u2014Several people are feared dead following a collision between a personal vehicle and a matatu at Kericho\u2019s Kipsitet area.
