{"id":96091,"date":"2024-09-25T11:04:20","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T11:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/09\/25\/kenyas-haiti-mission-receives-backing-from-angola\/"},"modified":"2024-09-25T11:04:20","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T11:04:20","slug":"kenyas-haiti-mission-receives-backing-from-angola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/kenyas-haiti-mission-receives-backing-from-angola\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya\u2019s Haiti Mission receives backing from Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-paragraph-padding-1\">\n<p><strong>Angolan President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o has called for additional resources which include equipment and air support, for the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti to realize their objective.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was revealed by President William Ruto through his official X Account after holding discussions with his Angolan Counterpart on strengthening of the African Union.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya\u2019s Head of State said that President Louren\u00e7o will embark on advocating for the mobilisation of more resources, including equipment and air support, for the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya has sent a contingent of 1,000 police officers to Haiti since June 2024\u00a0to restore stability in the troubled Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n<p>The deployment of Kenyan police force to Haiti garnered support from the international community including the United States.<\/p>\n<p>During an impromptu visit to Port-au-Prince in Haiti last Saturday, President William Ruto commended the deployed officers and lauded the collaboration between Kenya and Haitian police force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to deploy to Haiti was a matter of immense public interest in both Kenya and Haiti as well as throughout the world. The decision was met with scepticism, criticism and pessimism, and many questions were raised,\u201d Ruto stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn deploying officers to Haiti, Kenya was not, and is not, acting in isolation.
