A suspected child trafficker has been arrested in Kabete, Nairobi bringing an end to a nearly three-month manhunt.<\/p>\n
The suspect, identified as Mary Akinyi Mulamula, was captured in a coordinated operation led by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit alongside detectives from DCI Kabete.<\/p>\n
Two children, including one stolen from Kakamega County, were rescued in the process.<\/p>\n
The arrest follows weeks of intense investigation that began after the abduction of a child from Muchingu, Mukango Sub-Location, in Kakamega on June 6.<\/p>\n
The suspect allegedly convinced a shamba boy to allow her to take the child to Kakamega to be registered in sponsorship program that promised a monthly stipend of Ksh9,000.<\/p>\n
Instead, she disappeared without a trace, leaving the family in despair.<\/p>\n
The suspect is currently in police custody and is set to be arraigned in court.<\/p>\n
