{"id":98317,"date":"2024-10-04T12:03:15","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T12:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/10\/04\/us-ambassador-whitman-ig-kanja-discuss-enhanced-us-kenya-law-enforcement-cooperation\/"},"modified":"2024-10-04T12:03:15","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T12:03:15","slug":"us-ambassador-whitman-ig-kanja-discuss-enhanced-us-kenya-law-enforcement-cooperation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chezaspin.com\/blog\/us-ambassador-whitman-ig-kanja-discuss-enhanced-us-kenya-law-enforcement-cooperation\/","title":{"rendered":"US Ambassador Whitman, IG Kanja discuss enhanced US-Kenya law enforcement cooperation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 4 \u2014 United States Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, met with Kenya\u2019s Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, on Friday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in law enforcement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The discussions, held at IG Kanja\u2019s office in Jogoo House, also focused on capacity building and the training of Kenyan police officers.<\/p>\n<p>The National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement that Ambassador Whitman commended the NPS for their critical role in safeguarding the US Embassy in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>She also praised Kenya\u2019s leading role in the ongoing Multi-National Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmbassador Meg appreciated NPS Officers for playing a critical role in providing security to US Embassy and for heeding the call to lead the MSS Mission in Haiti,\u201d NPS said.<\/p>\n<p>IG Kanja, in turn, thanked the US government for its continued support in combating transnational organized crime, including terrorism, drug trafficking, and addressing border security challenges.<\/p>\n<p>He reaffirmed the NPS\u2019s commitment to collaborating with US law enforcement agencies on critical security issues.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Whitman was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Embassy\u2019s Legal Attach\u00e9 Jacob Williams, Senior Regional Security Officer Corynn Stratton, Political Counselor Tim Trende, and Maureen Mimnaugh, Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).<\/p>\n<p>In attendance from the Kenyan side were NPS Director of Human Capital Development, Rosemary Kuraru, Principal Assistant to the IG, Mathew Kutoh, and NPS Spokesperson, Resila Onyango.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 4 \u2014 United States Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, met with Kenya\u2019s Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, on Friday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in law enforcement.
