Two more cases of Mpox have been confirmed on the country bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the Ministry of Health, out of the 12 confirmed cases five are currently on management and seven have fully recovered.<\/p>\n
The cases are distributed into different counties namely; Nakuru with 2 cases, Kajiado two, Taita Taveta, Busia, Mombasa, Bungoma, Kericho, Kilifi and Nairobi with one case each.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to report that no deaths have been recorded among the confirmed cases.\u201d Said the Ministry in a statement.<\/p>\n
According to MOH, in the past 24 hours, a total of 15,269 travellers have been screened at various points of entry (POE), bringing the cumulative number to 1,161,422 travellers screened across 26 POEs.<\/p>\n
The National Public Health Laboratory has received 230 samples for testing of which 12 have tested positive, 217 have returned negative results, and one is pending results.<\/p>\n
The Health Ministry is urging Kenyans to remain vigilant and continue observing the Mpox preventive measures outlined by the government.<\/p>\n
Members of public have also been advised to report suspected cases by dialling a toll free number 719.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the Ministry of Health says it received an alert from the World Health Organization (WHO) on Marburg Virus Disease.<\/p>\n
Currently Kenya has no reported cases of Malburg.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have heightened surveillance activities and urge the public to remain vigilant.\u201d Read the statement.<\/p>\n
MOH noted that the symptoms of Malburg Virus Disease include high fever, severe headache, muscle aches, vomiting, diarrhoea, rashes, difficult swallowing and bleeding from body openings.<\/p>\n
Members of public have been urged to seek medical attention if they experience the listed symptoms.<\/p>\n
