The office of the Migori County Woman Representative, in collaboration with the Turkish government has established a factory to manufacture reusable sanitary towels in the region.<\/p>\n
According to Migori County Woman Representative, Fatuma Mohammed, the production of the sanitary products will enhance menstrual health and improve accessibility for teenage girls and young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.<\/p>\n
The legislator noted that many young girls in remote areas of the county face menstruation-related challenges, often leading to early marriages and teenage pregnancies.<\/p>\n
Fatuma said the factory will help supplement the government\u2019s supply of sanitary towels to public primary schools, which has decreased over the past two years.<\/p>\n
Yasmin Cansuz, a representative from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, emphasized that the partnership with the Woman Representative\u2019s office aims to support vulnerable communities and promote social protection.<\/p>\n
She added that the sanitary products are environmentally friendly, as they are made from biodegradable materials.<\/p>\n
In addition to producing sanitary towels, the factory is expected to create job opportunities in the region.<\/p>\n
