NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 17 – Fifteen Kenyan fishermen who were arrested by Tanzanian authorities in the Indian Ocean have been freed.
The release follows a Multi-Agency and cross-border security collaboration, by the Kenya Coast Guard Services (KCGS).
The fifteen were released following their arrest by Tanzanian Marine Police off Mwamba Mijira.
“Proud to announce that, through our strong Multi-Agency and cross-border security collaboration, KCGS has successfully secured the release of 15 Kenyan fishermen on MV TABARAK ALLAH1, arrested by Tanzanian Marine Police off Mwamba Mijira,” KCGS stated on X.
KCGS has further expressed its appreciation to the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) and the Deputy County commissioners for the critical role they played in securing the fishermen’s release.
It has further pledged to reinforce, maritime border security that will propel trade and travel through enhanced frontline collaboration.
“Special appreciation to the DCC and the @ngaosKEarchitecture for their key role today. Our focus is on strengthening border security and promoting legitimate Trade & Travel through enhanced frontline collaboration,” they assured.
