CS Kindiki gazettes new administrative Units in 31 Counties

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 15 – Interior Cabinet Secretary Interior Kindiki Kithure has gazetted New Administrative Units in 31 Counties as the government moves to improve coordination of services to members of the public.

The proposed locations and sub-locations across the country were arrived at after undergoing the process of scrutiny to see whether they meet the set criteria.

The Government in June 2022 froze the creation of new sub-locations, locations, divisions, and sub-counties, as units of service delivery and land adjudications along counties’ boundaries in the regions until after the August general elections.

The then Interior CS Fred Matiang’i expressed concern over what he termed as the politicization of boundary issues.

A number of counties in the regions have been experiencing cross-border conflicts around disputed boundaries and access to resources such as land, pasture and water.
