NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 8 – Renowned DJ Joe Mfalme and five others have been freed from accusations of killing a police officer.
Mfalme was freed along with two of his staff and three police officers after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) informed the court that only Allan Ochieng will face charges.
They were all under investigation for the death of Kabete DCI officer Felix Kintos, but the prosecution says only Ochieng has been found culpable.
Mfalme, speaking after the decision, expressed his relief, stating, “I am grateful for the outcome and for the faith that justice has been served. This has been a challenging time for all of us, and I appreciate the support we have received.”
The news comes following a letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dated April 5, 2024, advising that Mfalme and the others be considered as state witnesses in the murder case. This development was revealed during a court mention on April 8.

Kintos’ burial took place on April 2 in Kajiado County, with officers from the National Police Service (NPS) and friends paying their respects.
Earlier, a court ruling on March 25 had directed DJ Joe Mfalme and his associates to be detained for 14 days to facilitate further investigation. The probe suggests Kintos was involved in a non-injury accident, triggering an altercation with Ochieng, Eric, Simon, and Mfalme.
Furthermore, the investigative team revealed details about the incident at the Kikuyu police station. “The deceased was frog-marched to Kikuyu police station where he complained of abdominal pain and was found to be urinating blood,” they stated.
Following medical examinations, which revealed blunt abdominal trauma and traumatic bladder injury, the suspects were arrested. Mfalme’s involvement as a state witness signifies a turning point in the case, with Ochieng set to face trial for Kintos’ murder.
