NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10 — Sammy Ngotho has won the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) nomination for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.
Ngotho garnered 12,957 votes against Paul Waiganjo’s 4,978 votes in the party primaries.
The Ol Kalou seat fell vacant following the death of MP David Njuguna Kiaraho on March 29, 2026.
According to a profile shared on the DCP’s social media platforms, Ngotho is a former MCA who contested the seat on a UDA ticket in the 2022 General Election, finishing second to the late MP.
He was later appointed as a protocol officer in the office of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“When Gachagua was impeached, Ngotho’s contract was terminated and he returned home. Until recently, he served as the Nyandarua DCP coordinator, promoting the party at the grassroots and coordinating party activities,” the party said.
Ngotho now joins UDA candidate Samuel Muchina in awaiting clearance by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Muchina won the UDA nomination after securing 3,221 votes.
