Gachagua lauds DCP Ol Kalou Nominations as “Most Transparent Since 1992”

NAIROBI, Kenya May 10 – Rigathi Gachagua has praised the conduct of the Democracy for Citizens Party primaries in Olkalou Constituency, describing the exercise as a strong demonstration of internal democracy after Sammy Kamau Ngotho won the party ticket with 12,957 votes.

In a statement on social media, Gachagua said the outcome reflected a party guided by the will of its members, insisting that “the voice of the Kenyan people is what we listen to” and that “the people own the party; they make the choice of the leaders they want to be led by.”

He congratulated the winner, saying, “Congratulations Sammy Kamau Ngotho for winning the Olkalou Parliamentary party primaries for the DCP Party,” while thanking voters for what he termed a peaceful and high-turnout exercise.

Gachagua also reassured unsuccessful candidates of their place in the Party.

“For those who did not make it, you are our true heroes… your place in the party is secure,” he urged them to support the party’s nominee ahead of the 2027 election cycle, including the July 16th, 2026 polls.

He further praised election officials and security agencies, calling the process “meticulous” and “one of the most well-organized and transparent nominations since the advent of multi-party democracy in 1992.”

The former Deputy President commended the National Police Service in Nyandarua County for maintaining order throughout the exercise.
