JSC shortlists 7 candidates for Chief Registrar of the Judiciary post

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16 – The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has shortlisted seven candidates for the position of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary following the retirement of Anne Amadi in January.

In a notice on Friday, the commission stated that a total of total of forty-three applications were received.

The seven include Macharia Rose Wachuka, Ouma jack Busalile, Mokaya Frida Boyani, Wambeti Ann Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.

“Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted by the Judicial Service Commission on 18th March 2024 at the time indicated in the interview schedule below at the Judicial Service Commission Boardroom, CBK Pension Towers, 13th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm,” read the notice.

The commission indicated that it chose the seven after examining the applications to ensure that they were full and in compliance with the legal and constitutional conditions outlined.

It has now invited members of the public to avail in writing any information of interest in respect to any of the shortlisted candidates.

The Commission further stated that any member of the public who submits information regarding the shortlisted candidates may be interviewed, but the information will be kept confidential.

Former Chief Registrar Anne Amadi served for 10 years of service since January 2014.

The position is currently held by Judiciary’s Deputy Chief Registrar Paul Ndemo (one of the shortlisted candidates) as the Acting Chief Registrar.

Ndemo served as the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for the last five years.

The Chief Registrar is tasked with preparing estimates of expenditure, administering the Judiciary Fund, being the Secretary to the Judicial Service Commission; National Council for Administration of Justice.

He/she is also responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations and administration of Human Resources in the Judicial Service and being in charge of support services in the Judiciary and in particular, planning, development and organization of staff.
