Karua rallies voters to “Ondoa Wakulaji, Weka Wafanyikazi”

NAIROBI, Kenya May 10 – NAIROBI, Kenya May 10 – Martha Karua has stepped up her grassroots campaigns in the Mt. Kenya East region as she positions herself as a reform candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The People’s Liberation Party leader toured Embu and Tharaka Nithi counties, where she called on Kenyans to reject what she described as leaders focused on self-interest and instead elect leaders committed to service delivery.

Using the slogan ‘Ondoa wakulaji, weka wafanyikazi, Karua urged residents to support leaders who can address the country’s economic and social challenges.

“Kenya Kwanza has perfected the art of the grand launch, but no service delivery. Billions are announced for projects, as they give excuses for delays. If Ruto’s government cannot deliver the basics, they have no business managing the national budget or the future of our families.”

“A country is built by the sweat of wenye nchi, and they deserve to enjoy its benefits, not see them stolen by the corrupt. In 2027, ondoa wakulaji, weka wafanyikazi,” she said.

During the tour, Karua intensified her criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing the government of failing to deliver essential public services despite repeated promises and large budget allocations.

She particularly singled out the healthcare sector, claiming that many Level 5 hospitals across the country are struggling with shortages of medicine, equipment, and medical personnel even as Kenyans continue to make monthly deductions to the Social Health Authority (SHA).

“Wenye nchi do not eat launch ceremonies. They deserve roads that are safe, hospitals that heal. Year after year, promises are made and billions announced yet roads remain half-done, hospitals underfunded, and farmers unsupported. If this government cannot finish the basics, how can the people trust them with the Sh7Billion Nithi Bridge? Leadership is not convoys and groundbreakings; it is delivering results,” Karua told supporters.

Karua cited findings from the 2026 Economic Survey, arguing that the SHA is spending significantly more than it collects while patients continue to face poor services in public hospitals.

She questioned the sustainability of the current healthcare model and accused the government of mismanaging public resources at the expense of ordinary citizens.

The former Justice Minister also used the regional tour to position herself as a unifying opposition figure ahead of the next election, signaling her willingness to work with other opposition leaders to challenge President William Ruto’s administration in 2027.

Karua’s visit to Embu and Tharaka Nithi forms part of a wider nationwide campaign strategy aimed at strengthening her political support base as the race toward the next General Election gradually takes shape.
