NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 2 — The Kenya Defence Forces’ Rapid Response Unit (RRU), in partnership with the USAF Special Operations Squadron, conducted specialized training exercises in Archers Post, Samburu County.
KDF said Friday the training was an integral part of the multinational exercise EX-JUSTIFIED ACCORD 2024 aimed at bolstering the already strong and cooperative relationships among Kenya, the US, and East African nations.
During the exercises, RRU and USAF personnel practiced coordinating air support for ground forces in combat situations.
It involved providing direct assistance to troops on the battlefield, including engaging enemy positions and aiding in reconnaissance efforts.
“The joint forces further honed their skills in locating, rescuing, and recovering personnel in distress, an exercise critical for retrieving downed pilots, injured soldiers, or civilians caught in conflict zones,” KDF said.
The teams meticulously planned and executed various scenarios, ensuring seamless coordination to enhance mission effectiveness.
Captain Hillary Litali, speaking during the exercise, emphasized the significance of EX – Justified Accord beyond military maneuvers.
He noted its role in facilitating cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
Litali stated that the exercise was an opportunity to learn and improve procedures and communication methods through multinational cooperation, thereby enhancing overall personnel readiness.
He praised the exercise for bridging military minds, cultures, and expertise, showcasing the effectiveness of collaboration in addressing transnational security challenges.
