Omwanza Ombati elected LSK representative to the JSC

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 1 – Lawyer Omwanza Ombati has won the lucrative Male Representative seat at the Judicial Service Commission(JSC).

Omanza, who was one of the three candidates vying for the seat, took to twitter Friday morning with a heartfelt post thanking the members of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) for honoring him with their support.

“I want to sincerely thank the esteemed members of the law society of Kenya for bestowing me the greatest honor and trust of my professional life to serve them at the JSC Kenya” he stated.

Ombati managed to gather an outstanding 3,357 votes which was 65 votes ahead of his main competitor former LSK President Eric Theuri who gathered 3292 of the votes.

The stakes were high because Omwanza had previously run for the LSK Presidential post but lost to Theuri 

Theuri conceded defeat and thanked Ombati as well as all the other winners of their respective positions.

“I would like to congratulate Mr. Omwanza Ombati on his election as Commissioner Elect as well as all the winners of the various positions.In the end, The Law Society won,” Theuri stated.

Omwanza, a seasoned lawyer with over 20 years of experience, runs a law firm called Nchogu, Omwanza and Nyasimi Company advocates

He has a 2002 Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Moi University and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom

Omwanza further emphasized in his statement how he would ensure that democracy would be upheld and he would work in the best interests of the JSC

“For the members of the legal profession, I promise to be your voice at the JSC and truly represent you and have your voice heard clearly and loudly “he stated
