NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 20 — Tanzanian comedian Umar Iahbedi Issa alias ‘Mzee wa Mjegeje’ who coined the famous “Kata sumu tupo site” phrase is dead.
His manager Real Jimmy said the popular comedian passed away at a hospital in Dar es Salam on Wednesday.
The famous phrase translated as “hang up (the phone), I am on site” is famous in online platforms in Kenya. Users often use it to confirm their presence or arrival at social events.
