NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 11 – The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Committee has appointed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy Party Leader citing Rigathi Gachagua’s inability to serve following his impeachment.
In a statement on Monday, UDA Chairperson Cecile Mbarire explained that the decision was made after Gachagua’s impeachment by the National Assembly and confirmation by the Senate, an outcome which rendered him incapable of fulfilling his duties as Deputy Party Leader.
“The National Executive Committee has resolved to designate Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy Party Leader of the United Democratic Alliance Party, effective immediately,” read the statement.
Kindiki expressed his readiness to serve with loyalty, affirming that the party is committed to unity for all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliations and backgrounds.
Gachagua was impeached on multiple allegations including abuse of office.
